Jason Ellis' life-long passion to serve the community began more than 30 years ago when, as a 16-year-old, he joined the Vestal Fire Department and Vestal Volunteer Emergency Squad. Given the benefit of hindsight, those milestones are, in fact, when he began preparing to serve as Broome County's next sheriff.
In those 30 years, he has amassed invaluable experience and gained considerable expertise in law enforcement, emergency management and the fire service. He has more than 23 years of experience in law enforcement and emergency management operations in the Broome County Sheriff’s Office. He is a retired Detective Sergeant supervising the Criminal Investigation, Warrants and Juvenile Divisions, and a trusted member of the Sheriff's command team. He also has more than 30 years of fire service experience at the county and local levels in Broome County.
Along the way, he has earned the trust and respect of colleagues in all three fields.
Jason Ellis has now officially begun his campaign for Broome County Sheriff, and his campaign begins with listening to the people of Broome County. Based on hundreds of discussions, thus far, combined with his in-depth knowledge of the issues facing law enforcement, he believes the Sheriff's Office can take a stronger position in addressing many of the problems we face including the opioid crisis and crime rates.
Jason Ellis is confident that he, the leadership team he assembles and the front-line officers will work together to provide proactive & practical solutions for a safer and stronger Broome County.
